Frequently asked questions

How does the animal picker work?

Tick 1 to 10 animals. The picker instantly works out in which countries you see them, in which months the odds are best and which single trip covers the most animals. The globe flies along to those countries.

How many animals can I combine in one trip?

In Botswana you see lion, elephant and rhino in one 9-day trip. In Tanzania you combine lion, elephant, leopard and giraffe. The overlap map above shows the best combination per selection.

What does a wildlife trip cost?

As an indication: South Africa self-drive 2,200 to 5,000 euros per person for 10 days, Tanzania 3,500 to 6,000 euros for 9 days, Antarctica 9,000 to 15,000 euros. All prices are indications including flights.

What is the best travel month for safari?

June to October for Africa (dry season), March to June for tigers in India, May to September for orangutans in Borneo, July and August for whales in Iceland and December to January for penguins in Antarctica.

Where does the data come from?

From public sources like the IUCN Red List, national park authorities (SANParks, Tanzania Parks, NTCA India) and government travel advisories. See the methodology page for all sources and assumptions.

Do I need to create an account?

No. The picker works without signup and stores nothing. Share your result via a link, for example /picker/?animals=lion,rhino,whale.

Is Animals Around the World suitable for families?

Yes. Elephants, giraffes and whales work well with children from about 4 to 6 years old. Tigers and polar bears take more patience and suit children from 8 to 10.

Can I book directly?

Animals Around the World helps you orient and compare; booking runs through travel providers. Every result lists trip types with indicative prices and links to the country guides with all details.
